When is Black Friday 2020?
Black Friday will take place on 27 November this year and be followed by Cyber Monday on 30 November. Originally a tradition only in the US and Canada, this annual shopping event is now one of the best opportunities to get top gadgets with great discounts ahead of Christmas in the UK.
With all non-essential retail shops now set to close between 5 November and 2 December in line with new national restrictions, high street retailers will be bringing the biggest and best Black Friday deals online. Expect some healthy competition between them and online retail giants like Amazon across the event.
We’ve also noticed a pattern in retailers dropping discounts far in advance of Black Friday itself. The more competition there is, the lower prices get, so this year is predicted to be an absolute extravaganza of Black Friday kitchen appliance deals.
When you’ve decided on which microwave to invest in, keep an eye on its RRP and buy the device at a price you feel comfortable with. We’re expecting stock to run out quickly this year.
How to get a good deal on Black Friday
- Microwaves vary dramatically in specification as well as price, so to make sure you’re getting good value for money for the features you want we recommend researching in advance. Check out our guide to the best microwaves as a starting point.
- Know the RRP of the microwave you want. Then you’ll have a better sense of how much money you’ll save with each deal.
- Don’t be swayed by reductions on microwaves you don’t want or need. With so many Black Friday deals it’s easy to get overwhelmed and pay for features you won’t use.
- Only buy what you can afford.
- Keep in mind that some retailers such as AO.com, John Lewis & Partners and Currys PC World offer a price match guarantee.
Should I wait for Cyber Monday?
Black Friday is going to look very different this year. Retailers that would have run deals in-store will be bringing deals online. This means more competition, so deals are set to start way in advance of the shopping event itself.
Because of this, we recommend keeping an eye on the price of your ideal microwave and buying when you feel comfortable doing so, rather than waiting for Cyber Monday. By that time, it may be out of stock.
We’ll be bringing all the latest news and best Black Friday microwave deals to you directly, so remember to check back here for discounts on our top-rated models.
